Six Senses Con Dao Welcomes New General Manager
This August, Six Senses Con Dao is pleased to announce that Mr. Christoph Holzapfel has been appointed as General Manager of the resort. With over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, covering all aspects of hotel operation & a great passion for Food & Beverage, Christoph is expected to bring potential innovations to Six Senses Con Dao.
Growing up in the scenic surrounds of Stellenbosch in South Africa, Christoph was exposed from early childhood to luxury hospitality & started his professional career as a chef at the acclaimed Restaurant Bonthuys in Gent, Belgium. Here his enthusiasm for gastronomy was well cemented before returning to South Africa to study at the University of Johannesburg. His journey continued with him joining the opening team at Relais & Châteaux then The Marine Hermanus, as an Executive Sous Chef.
Since then, Christoph’s passion has taken him to head up luxury premises in Abu Dhabi, Botswana, Zanzibar & Maldives as he progressed from the culinary world into management positions with groups like Anantara, Orient Express (Belmond), Sanctuary Retreats & Mantis Collection. He shared: “My inspiration in work every day stems from a natural desire to delight others. My priority is to focus on details & support the team to ensure that every guest’s expectations are exceeded.”
Considering Vietnam as his second home over the past few years, Christoph believes that Six Senses Con Dao will be a perfect place to not only live & work but also enable him to add further values to guest experiences at this enchanting resort. Additionally, he is especially enthusiastic about Vietnamese cuisine: “My taste buds love exploring such a vast array of flavours blended in the traditional dishes & the diversity of fresh herbs, vegetables & local ingredients.”
Christoph expects that after years of gaining international experience, he will successfully capitalize his accumulated knowledge & skills to contribute to the sustainable development of Six Senses Con Dao in the future.
