ERIC HALLIN MOVES TO HO CHI MINH CITY
The veteran hotelier brings a wealth of experience to Norfolk Group Hotels
As the newly appointed General Manager of the Norfolk Hotel and Norfolk Mansion, Eric Hallin will make a valuable addition both to the two properties, and to the city’s hospitality industry. He brings with him over 40 years of international experience in managing four- and five-star hotels.
Growing up Africa and Europe, he attended the Universities of Malawi and Stockholm before joining the travel industry. Fluent in several languages, his career has spanned several countries, including France, Greece, Maldives, Spain and Thailand. His management expertise has contributed to the success of many properties, including the Six Senses Hideaway in Koh Samui, voted “Best Hotel in the World” by Condé Nast Traveller readers in 2008.
His working philosophy is simple: “A hotel is like a small city. Managing one involves multiple and important responsibilities, from waste disposal to welcoming royalty. To do this well, you need a team of loyal staff who are able to combine their training with a full understanding of what the word ‘hospitality’ means. A General Manager is therefore only as good as his ability to instruct, motivate and empower his team”
Eric also attaches importance to community issues and local business development. To do this he has held many leading positions in PATA, chambers of commerce, tourism committees, Skal and other associations.
